boasts an enviable location in the heart of the country, where its 438 acre campus is home to state-of-the-art facilities and the UK’s leading university sports programme.
Located just a couple of miles off the M1 motorway, and within close proximity to major cities such as Birmingham and Nottingham, the UK’s largest single-site green campus is well served by a range of transport options. From car sharing to trains and buses, we’ve outlined the best (and cheapest) ways to commute to and from the university.
How to get to Loughborough University
Loughborough is served by a selection of regional bus services, as well as National Express – all of which run to and from the city centre. Upon arrival you can use the local Kinch bus service to reach the campus.
Hop aboard the Kinch number 7 service, also known as the University shuttle, which runs from the train station in the city centre out to campus and stops at several locations, including the student union. You can view a timetable and route map here
Loughborough Station is located just a couple of miles east of campus, with daily departures to and from nearby cities such as Nottingham, Leicester and Birmingham, as well as routes to London (journey time to the capital is roughly 1.5 hours).
From the station, you can either catch the number 7 service to campus or head for the taxi rank outside the station.
If you’re travelling to and from campus by car, then make life easier by popping the campus postcode (LE11 3TT) into your sat nav. Those travelling along the M1 should exit at junction 23 and head east on the A512, which runs straight past the campus.
Lift share to and from Loughborough University
Whether you’re travelling to campus from out of town, or find yourself heading out to one of the nearby cities on the weekends, a car share arrangement could be just the ticket. Split the cost of fuel and parking with friends or strangers and enjoy a bit of company along the way.
Parking on campus is limited and requires a permit, so help ease congestion, cut down on those pesky emissions and save some cash while you’re at it!
