Travel to Sevenoaks

Set in lush, rolling countryside and dotted with fascinating attractions, Sevenoaks is more than just a commuter town. The peaceful, affluent corner of Kent known as the Sevenoaks District is an area rich in history, culture and charm, with much to enchant visitors and locals alike.

Whether you're planning a visit to see the district's sights, or live in the area and make the daily commute to London, you should easily be able to find a car share to help cut the cost of the journey and meet new people along the way. Then get set to explore the distinctive heritage of this lovely corner of Britain...

Historic attractions and peaceful garden retreats

First on the list for any visitor to Sevenoaks is Knole, the vast 15th-century manor house and estate built by a former Archbishop of Canterbury. Wander the 365 rooms, seven courtyards and 52 staircases that comprise this monumental palace, then enjoy a stroll in the spacious gardens and medieval deer park.

Nature lovers will enjoy admiring the wide selection of flowers and plants in the Riverhill Himalayan Gardens and Emmets Garden, both located on the edge of Sevenoaks, while those keen on spotting wildlife should head to the Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve, a unique conservation area with a balanced mix of ponds, lakes and woodland.

A bit further out of town, but still within the Sevenoaks district are a number of other historic properties, including a Roman villa at Lullingstone; Winston Churchill's home at Chartwell; and the childhood home of Anne Boleyn at Hever Castle

Things to do in Sevenoaks

Fancy a cultural night out? Head to the Stag Community Arts Centre, Cinema and Theatre to catch a film or the latest live production, which could be anything from theatre or comedy to music and dance. Sports fans may wish to pay a visit to the Vine Cricket Ground, which is one of the oldest in England, or head just out of town to Brands Hatch to watch some motorsports (or book a driving experience of your own!).

Shoppers can find a number of popular brands around the High Street area, as well as a good mix of pubs, cafés and restaurants catering to a range of tastes and budgets. Remember, too, that all the attractions of London are just a short car journey away – which is partially why Sevenoaks is such a great base for anyone commuting to the capital!

Book a lift share to guarantee a cheap ride to London, and save your pennies for exploring the historic and natural wonders of Sevenoaks, as well as the capital's highlights.
